My husband and I have been blessed with a successful iui (done in your office) with the birth of our daughter in 2008. We are planning on trying another iui next june. I have a couple of concerns a) I will be 35 this December b) how soon do I need to call your office to set up the process ( I became successfully pregnant by using FSH and would like to use this again if ok). Thanks! __________________ Jenifer Mlekush |

Reply with quote | #2 | So good to hear from you! Don't forget to bring a picture when you come back. Let me try and address your questions, but feel free to call Paula since you are an established patient.
1) The average woman begins to see a drop in fertility at the age of 35. However, for most women, this drop is subtle and not a major factor until the late 30s. Therefore, if you are average, don't worry about "rushing in" at the age of 35. However, some women begin the drop in fertility sooner and have great difficulty at the age of 35. Bottom line - if you're ready for another child go ahead and make the appointment.
2) If your delivery was uncomplicated (no infections, prolonged hospital stay) and nothing has happened to you since the delivery (such as infections, surgery, etc), then you can simply call Paula for a "refresher course" in FSH injections. She may determine that you don't need a refresher and can start the medicine with an upcoming period.
3) Obviously, if things are complicated or if you have questions, then you can see me before you begin.
We look forward to helping you with #2! Blessings. __________________ Jeffrey L. Deaton, M.D.
