Reply with quote | #1 | Hi, my name is Christine. I was hoping to do gender selection to prevent any future daughters from getting PPH. My grandmother died on the table from it and was revived, my mom almost died with my 2 brothers, and I went into pre-mature labor when I was 6 months pregnant with my first daughter and hemorrhaged (due to placenta abrupto) and with my second child I hemorrhaged horribly and had to get scraped out. It is such a horrible experience it almost deters me from having another kiddo. I would like to have a son instead. If there is a family history of PPH, then why pass it on? So, if I were to get IVF and husband got SCSI, if we opted for PGD, is there a way you can tell if a embryo will have to go through PPH? And if all of my female embryos carry PPH, then what?
Thanks for your time. It's just been something I have been thinking about.

Reply with quote | #2 | Thanks for the message. I'm sorry for the trouble you and your family have had with post partum hemorrhage. Unfortunately, we don't do sex selection unless there is a fatal gene present that affects one of the sexes. I don't think your situation falls into this category. Due to the danger of bleeding with your pregnancy, you may want to consider adoption. Good luck. Blessings. __________________ Jeffrey L. Deaton, M.D.
