Reply with quote | #1 | Dr. Deaton, My husband and I have been trying for 5 years to have a baby. I am 25 years old and have never been pregnant. My husband is 39 years old. We have seen many doctors...one fertility specialist has encouraged us to have a child "naturally". The problem seems simple but nobody seems to know how to fix the problem. My husband doesn't ejaculate. In the 6 years we have been married he has ejaculated a total of 4 times. We have tried EVERYTHING. We have seen psychologists and therapists. He has seen a urologist multiple times and been told that there is not physiological problem. The problem persists.
I have heard of a surgery that could retrieve sperm ... as a precursor to IVF treatment. Do you perform this surgery? Is IVF less successful completed this way? Do you think you can help?
Thank you for your time.

Reply with quote | #2 | Thanks for the message. Yes - we are able to use testicular sperm to fertilize your eggs using a technique called ICSI. IVF is not less successful using this approach. A local urologist comes to our office to perform the testicular biopsy. We then freeze the specimen and use it during the IVF process. Kristy in our office can make an appointment and also give you our IVF success rates. Blessings. __________________ Jeffrey L. Deaton, M.D.
